I provide support to instructional designers, instructional writers, and subject matter experts in their development of online courses, focusing on accessible and inclusive eLearning design and practices.I provided additional support that often includes researching and writing content, writing citations for source material, sourcing and validating content, ensuring accessibility compliance (writing alt tags and descriptive text), assisting with integration, and assisting with quality assurance. I contribute to projects in other capacities, supporting them however needed to help ensure successful completion.

I made 1" and 2.25" custom pin-back buttons for a variety of occasions. I also ran a subscription-based button club for about two years, and sold buttons through an Etsy shop in the last year of business to clear out my inventory, which was a success.

I instructed "tutorials" (seminars for first year students) in a course known as The Development of Western Thought (Arts 1000), which is mandatory for students in the Faculty of Arts.My teaching philosophy is premised on growth mindset and grit, holistic student development, appreciative advising/mentorship, and that all students can succeed when they apply the right amount effort with successful learning and studying strategies. I fostered my students’ essential skills for academic success: thoughtful and analytical reading, clear writing, effective study strategies, and healthy personal/learning routines.

Enhancing academic advising by providing academic advisors and student support professionals with resources and professional development, I was tasked with nine objectives to develop consistently high quality advising that fosters student success. 1) Develop and implement an institutional framework of academic advising while maintaining unit-specific approaches.2) Develop tools and resources to meet the professional development needs of advisors.3) Develop appropriate resources for students and advisors to use in the advising process.4) Implement tools to assist advisors with the management of sessions and records.5) Develop an assessment strategy and plans to measure the efficacy of academic advising.6) Develop a recognition and appreciation program that highlights the role of advising in student success.7) Develop strategic partnerships and collaborations in support of enhanced academic advising.8) Promote a university environment that values academic advising.9) Hire and supervise student employees.Various outcomes and achievements from this work are included under the "Accomplishments" section.

Uni-tee Designs is my first business. I began by customizing fairly traded t-shirts using heat-transfer paper and a special heat-transfer press. Soon after launching Uni-tee Designs, I upgraded to eco-friendly screen-printing.I produced many custom orders using fairly traded t-shirts and hoodies. I also screen-printed several lines of my own designs.In August 2011, Uni-tee Designs expanded to include custom and artistic pin-back buttons. In Fall 2012, I left the screen-printing industry to pursue custom pin-back production only. This meant the end of Uni-tee Designs as it transformed into Unity Designs, which then transformed into Unity Buttons.

I was responsible for proof-reading written assignments and providing feedback based on a variety of criteria. I provided direction regarding content gaps and/or inaccuracies, and structural issues with written arguments. I also provided feedback on proper essay structure (introduction, body, conclusion, citation), grammar, spelling and punctuation. I provided feedback on supporting evidence and on clarity of syntax.I worked with many English-second language students helping them increase their writing proficiency.Students consistently performed significantly better on their written assignments after my assistance. My tutoring strategy was so successful that an English professor decided to integrate my tutoring into an assignment for introductory-level English students. The students were rewarded for attending a tutoring session with me.

As a student worker, I was an assistant to the managing editor of The Fiddlehead, a short fiction and poetry periodical published in Fredericton, New Brunswick. My various responsibilities included sorting mail, logging fiction and poetry submissions, sending mail (including rejection letters), and creating a digital inventory of back issues.
