I am a transport planner with over 20 years’ professional experience, all gained in sustainably-oriented consultancy environments. In that time I have focused on supporting a range of clients with their research and delivery of socially-impactful, sustainably-focused transport projects and interventions. In recent years, this has evolved into growing, leading and managing teams of skilled, purpose-driven people. In both contexts, my inclusive, human-centred approach is rooted in a philosophy – shared by many at ITP – that demand for movement is derived from people’s needs / interests, and the places they inhabit. It is demonstrably reflected in the companies I have chosen to work for, the projects and clients I’ve collaborated with, and how I choose to work alongside colleagues – consensually co-defining and implementing shared long-term plans and objectives that purposefully link individual’s own growth and development aims with those of our organisation.I look to inspire others through a mix of empathy, humility, inclusivity, creative thinking, decisive leadership, and a commitment (both to myself and others) to fully enjoy the work I do – embracing challenges and setbacks as opportunities to learn and improve. My track record of work-winning, project delivery, client satisfaction, and positive working relationships with colleagues are direct results of the stable and committed Leadership Team I’ve been a part of whilst at ITP. They are also a product of the trust and belief that peers have shown in my abilities and willingness to learn. I trace much of this back to having a set of shared (non-financial) goals and ambitions which I have strived, alongside others, to achieve over a sustained period of time.
