  • Miami Ad School
    Instructor
Miami Ad School Jan 2009 - Nov 2023
    Miami, Fl, Us
Teaching, mentoring and developing talent are my jam. And my job. Since 2023, I've been delivering 10-week courses on Social Media, Content Creation, and Story Writing to budding art directors, copywriters, photographers, and designers. I also do a comprehensive session on inclusive creative development and team leadership to emerging and new creative directors. I offer professional development classes and coaching for young creative professionals via Baby Food For Creatives as well, because there's so much more that goes into being great beyond a good book. From 2009-2012 I taught Concepting, Creative Writing and Word Smithing classes to copywriting students in NYC who are now CDs that can properly appreciate the craft of writing and a perfectly-picked word.
  • Meta
    Global Head Of Inclusive Creative
    Meta Aug 2021 - Aug 2023
    Menlo Park, Ca, Us
This was my dream role, merging my skills and passion for transforming people, businesses and culture. Sitting on the global leadership team of the Creative Shop, I was able to create a whole new way of thinking about inclusive marketing and cultural intelligence. I believe that more inclusive teams build more exceptional content, so I developed the global strategy and go-to-market plan to improve the way we work and the work we do.I led global cross-functional teams to do all sorts of cool things - trainings, resources, frameworks, hackathons, workshops, presentations, reviews, websites, you name it. And it worked. We saw a 33% jump in culturally-fluent content, tripled our partnerships with diverse creators and influences, and increased our spent with diverse suppliers. The team felt it too, not only did our culture and collaboration improve, folks said they were more comfortable (22% more) leading inclusive projects. The best part - our campaigns performed better. We saw 2x higher ad recall and a 1.5x boost in purchase intent for projects that had more inclusive teams, processes, and executions. And I'm not talking about the "for good" or "Pride Month" stuff, I'm talking about ev-ry-thing - every client, every business objective, every platform.
  • Facebook
Head Of Creative, Health And Non Profits
    Facebook May 2018 - Aug 2021
This was not on my career bingo card. I had no pharma experience prior to this, but turns out creativity can solve complex challenges anywhere. What started with a workshop for Pfizer turned into a whole health creative practice. I built a full team, crafted a strategic engagement plan, and partnered closely with sales and marketing to deliver creative excellence and business growth for 30+ top pharmaceutical, consumer health, and non-profit brands. How'd we go from one meeting to $1B in sales in 5 years?- Deep market research and relationship building led to an industry-first mobile video framework that boosted video adoption by over 100% on FB in the first year, and over 200% on IG after that, resulting in double-digit growth YoY for years.- Creative initiatives with key partners, like a global Creative Courage program with GSK (which their CMO deemed one of their best partnerships), and a multi-channel campaign alongside St. Jude's first VR experience that generated over $1M in donations and earned multiple awards.- Crafting culturally-connected campaigns, including an influencer-led AARP content series that saw 5x lift in brand favorability among Latinas, and a blood donation social media toolkit used in over 75 countries by 150+ organizations.

I also build my management and culture building skills by founding and leading an internship program for junior creatives that had a 75% hire rate, boosted team gender, race and age diversity and changed how we hire across North America.

Looking back, it's wild how much has changed in social media since 2014. So much of the work I did while managing the creative team for Verizon's social media platforms was cool back then and now might make you chuckle - crafting the first Vine strategy (RIP), leading Verizon's first paid IG campaign, and producing a multi-platform holiday video campaign that included GIFs and influencers (revolutionary, I know). Building a cohesive brand identity and creative strategy across platforms that were constantly evolving was a skill that has served me well though.
  • Publicis
    Senior Copywriter
    Publicis 2011 - 2014
    New York, New York, Us
It's amazing what you can do with one brand. I spent over three years working on all things Citi - websites, Olympic partnerships, social media, events, radio, print, video, apps, and 10,000 banner ads (not exaggerating.) My fav project was Citi Bike. Not only because it transformed the city and the business (25% increase in brand health, 41% boost in intent, and 15% increase in new customers) and won a bunch of awards, but because it hit on so many things I love- exploring new creative opportunities and delivering real world impact. My least fav part was the one time I rode a Citi Bike. Into a parked car. Once was enough for that, but the whole experience unlocked my love for launching new brands and products, developing integrated marketing campaigns, and prioritizing people-first strategies.
  • Globalhue
    Senior Copywriter
    Globalhue 2009 - 2011
This was my intro to cultural fluency before I knew it even was. I worked on creative for a mix of clients (Verizon, US Navy, Bermuda, Walmart, Chrysler and OneMain Financial) across a mix of mediums. My fav projects were Verizon's first social Black History Month content series, and an award-winning 2010 US Census campaign that included a web series with Ludacris, which, having lived in Atlanta, was very exciting, but it was especially enlightening to see how leading with Culture worked as a strategy to change perception. The best part of my time here was learning about the importance of community insights, challenging stereotypes, and understanding people beyond demographics and "personas."
  • Ogilvy & Mather
    Copywriter
    Ogilvy & Mather 2007 - 2009
    New York, Ny, Us
I worked on everything from cigarettes to cameras, Kevlar to K-mart, writing and concepting for digital, direct mail, experiential, OLV and emails - you name it, I probably wrote it. I also shortlisted in the 2009 Young Cannes Lions competition, which was disappointing until years later when I served on the jury and saw the volume and quality of the submissions -- not bad Young Neish.
