At the University of Trinidad and Tobago I assisted the Marine Research team. I analyzed ROV footage from offshore gas installations. I gathered and analyzed sonar and habitat data. I created habitat maps from these data using ArcGIS and Reefmaster.

Marine and estuarine systems are highly variable in both time and space. This variability is the result of physical, chemical and biological processes that influence the properties and content of the water. My research aimed to describe and interpret the temporal and spatial variability of the optical water quality parameters: SPM, chlorophyll a and Secchi depth. During this research project, I analysed extensive environmental data-sets with the statistical software-package R and wrote a scientific report about my research. I presented progress and final outcome of my results to the Dutch national monitoring agency Rijkswaterstaat, the international CITCLOPS project team and to the examination board.

The global cycle of methane, an important greenhouse gas, is not yet fully understood. The aim of my research project was to provide evidence of methane oxidation near the oxygen minimum zone of the Eastern Tropical North Pacific. During this research project I analysed samples using two sets of tools: molecular techniques to detect and identify methanotrophic bacteria and Stable Isotope Analysis to trace methane derived carbon into the food web. I wrote a scientific report about my research and presented my results to the examination board.

As a QC laboratory coordinater I coordinated QC activities during the commissioning and validation phase of a new Vaccine Plant. I Enhanced knowledge transfer by bridging cultural and language differences between the QC department in the mother plant in Belgium and the new plant in Singapore.
