Taking surveys in all the Flemish regions about the Media and ICT use of the average citizen via street interviews: http://www.digimeter.be. Organisation of surveys by request from research groups, companies and internal projects. Tasks: analyzing data and figures.

The VEP project aims as a trial project at integrating young EU citizens from 3 different regions (Lulea, Barcelona, Flanders) in the decision making process of the European Parliament. As a trial project the Virtual EP activities will run parallel with the actual agenda of the European Parliament. The young EU citizens will be able to: access relevant information via the VEP portal, share thoughts with the other participants, collaboratively write reports on specific topics and will be asked to give their opinion via mobile voting and surveying. The process is moderated by an international support office looking after the quality of all Virtual EP activities.More info at http://www.virtualep.eu/

Coordination of National and International Projects

An Alfa used to be a visionair with its own idea(s) concerning innovation, new technology & new media, the mobile future & mobile applications, solutions & services. The community consisted of work groups and project groups in consensus with the different interests, knowledge and experiences of the Alfa's. A mix of men and women, students and employees, from different backgrounds. We shared the knowledge & worked together in projects with the goal to set up spin-offs and create employment. Later on the City Services Platform was developed within i-City and 750 test users in Hasselt and Leuven joined i-City. The Alfa's blended together with the other new users within the test user community. Mobile devices have been lend out to the user to test the applications. Within my servicedesk experience I followed-up their devices, the technical problems which occured, repairs and other questions or problems the user had, face to face or through phone/mails.

The project researched the impact of a new communication service on relationships within different social networks. This multi method study established cooperation with Microsoft Research Cambridge, IBBT-SMIT and i-City. The i-City Living Lab test panel investigated the new service, introduced by Microsoft Cambridge. Different qualitative and quantitative methods (observations, interviews, survey…) have been implemented by IBBT-SMIT to complete this investigation while giving more insight in the changing effects of this new personal media, accessible via multi-layer channels.
