St. Joe’s Hospital is the busiest emergency department in Hamilton, serving about 200 individual every day with 38 beds. The hospital is recognized for its expertise in mental health, respiratory cases and kidney transplant dialysis. • Comfortable and competent working in a monitored setting with critically ill patients, often unstable and intubated.• Manage volume and flow of ambulatory patients in busy downtown center while working closely with physicians. Often required to de-escalate patients displaying unregulated behaviour and problem solve flow issues. • Proficient at all general nursing skills including assessment, evaluation IV initiation, bloodwork, wound care, insertion of urinary catheters/NGs, assisting with insertion and managing Art lines, central lines, and PICCs.
