After I had my daughter in June 2019, I intended to return to work at NFU Mutual. Unfortunately, being a small office, they were unable to offer me a part time role. I then took my current position at Carpetright in Cromer. Although a big change in terms of products from insurance, I have been able to prove my ability to not only learn, but master a new product range and role quickly and easily and in just a few weeks working 20 hours I felt confident to sell the various types of flooring in stock. Carpetright focussed on the customer journey, from the moment the customer enters the store and is welcomed to ensuring they leave with the correct products to meet their needs. I was mainly valued as the Office Administrator, dealing with marketing changes weekly, audits, emails and phone calls. I also maintained the warehouse, including stock levels and managed the fitters diaries. This meant I not only organised where they would go and when, but ensured we had adequate fitting teams available for the jobs we had. The administration side of my role was independent, meaning I had to be aware of my workload and how to best work it into my part time hours.

In 2010 I started work as an insurance representative for the NFU Mutual. The NFU Mutual is a national insurance company with offices providing a local service to their clients. My role when I first started was mainly in incoming sales. This was in Motor, Home and Business Package insurance. After 3 years, I became a Personal Assistant to one of the Directors. I was required to organise his diary, from client appointments to birthdays and anniversaries, scout and research new businesses and farms to insure and complete paperwork and changes to policies following his meetings. After his retirement, I took up a role on the telephones dealing with all incoming calls. This meant dealing with existing and new clients, providing changes to their policies, advice on all matters of insurance from Commercial to Personal policies, and issuing documentation including manual covernotes which are handwritten legal documents proving insurance. When Dynamics was introduced as the new Customer Management System, I quickly became the “Dynamics Champion” within the office which I excelled at.

I began working on the phones, but moved into the Compliance Team. This has been my favourite role in insurance. Listening to calls and giving feedback to customer advisors, both positive and negative
