Took time to focus on some open source projects, recover from burnout, and finish home improvement projects that keep getting delayed. See https://git.sr.ht/~nelsam for most of the projects in question.

Developed an agile-based workflow for rapid development. Wrote the core gRPC communication platform for a human-in-the-loop active training system, streaming information from users to a trainer and vice versa. Wrote a system to connect to postgres using logical replication and translate WAL segments to messages on a message queue.

Wrote a testing framework and sample tests to exercise (and break) an object storage implementation. Managed the staging environment for dozens of engineers. Wrote tooling for engineers and CI/CD systems to communicate about parts of the staging environment that were in use.

Boulder, CO

Worked on the log and metric aggregation system for cloudfoundry. Built an in-memory ring buffer using atomics to replace an outdated and slow channel-based per-client log/metric queue. Updated internal communication in a distributed log aggregation system from using custom UDP to using gRPC.

Ported an API written in python to Go and updated it to follow REST principles. Filled out unit tests to improve test coverage. Wrote shell scripts to handle pushing to heroku.

Tasks include writing several REST APIs for use on Heroku, including a message queue, analytics backend, etc; as well as maintaining some open source libraries. Most backend code was using the Go language, but we had many python bits and a few java pieces. Frontend code was using angular.js and LESS CSS.

Maintained a python website running on GAE; wrote a Go website also running on GAE that was intended to act as a REST API that would automatically relate medical documents through a neural network.

Wrote PHP and Python code, studied CUDA processing and image recognition, wrote and maintained RESTful API calls for iOS and android applications.

Wrote scripts to automate DBA tasks, using a variety of languages from bash to perl to python to C.
