- Researched a phenomenon called hydrogen embrittlement (HE). Since most natural gas pipelines are made of ferrous material, they are severely embrittled by Hydrogen. HE comes in the form of reduced ductility and/or subcritical crack growth and is a predominant problem when considering Hydrogen transport in the already established natural gas pipelining system.
