Vionel Enterprises (VE) is a vertically integrated start-up agribusiness that engages in regenerative agriculture value chains- farm input sourcing and supply, primary on-field production, agricultural services (education, networking, mechanisation etc) value addition and processing as well as marketing and sales/trade in agricultural produce/products. VE has operations in Trans-Nzoia, Narok and Laikipia Counties in Kenya, East Africa.

TSN is concerned with activities falling within the Social and Economic programmatic areas:Sociali. Human rights: - promotion and protection of human rights in the context of peace and reconciliation, conflict management and peace building.ii. Governance and democracy: - promotion and facilitation of youth and gender issues, representation in leadership, empowerment and demand for good governance. Anti-corruption and public reforms shall be integrated as matters of overarching importance. Economic i. Livelihood initiatives to combat poverty: - agro- forestry, irrigation and/or intensive agriculture, horticulture, alternative and/or organic agriculture, cottage industry and/or jua kali and rural small & micro industry targeting the economically disadvantaged (urban poor and rural small-holders).ii. Environment conservation: - promotion of green/sustainable energy systems and energy conservation, climate change campaigning, adaptation and mitigation, environmental advocacy and education, tree planting, water catchment conservation and green lifestyle education.

The main components of Eldoret Green Town Project were:1. Awareness and education on environmental conservation and governance: sporting and WASH events, public barazas and community actions, mid-media, trainings and stakeholders' workshops 2. Waste management and sanitation: solid waste collection, recycling of organic household waste, installation of clean water access points.3. Livelihoods and climate change adaptation and mitigation: establishment and running of demonstration plots for sustainable climate-smart urban farming, raising and transplanting indigenous and ornamental trees in Eldoret town.Additional project management roles with Jumuiya Women Group; Project Manager- Small Stock Project for Rural Livelihood Enhancement; Project Manager- Sixteen Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence; Project Manager- Sports for Social Change; Project Manager- Gender Empowerment Initiative; Civic Education Coordinator- Civic Education on the Referendum for the Draft Constitution of Kenya

The main components and related activities of LEMLIP were:1. Community capacity building on environmental governance and management- Construction and operation of a community resource centre; community education forums and nature-based solutions. 2. Climate change adaptation and mitigation- Farmer capacity building on viable climate-smart agriculture through demonstration plots; promotion of alternative energy and energy saving technologies. 3. Conserving and protecting Lorian water catchments- rehabilitation of Senetwo dam and; raising and transplanting 100,000 tree seedlings.

Community Alliance for Change (CAC) is a non-profit registered Community Based Organization (CBO) with projects covering the larger Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya. With the development objective of improving the lives and livelihood of local communities through better health care and support systems, food security, higher household disposable incomes, peace and sustainable environmental exploitation, CAC administers two program areas, namely humanity and environment, which are further divided into a number of projects:Humanity(1)Koko’s Village; operates as a day- care, drop-in facility that offers free education, psycho social counseling, hygiene, health care, feeding and nutrition, rescue and child rights services to underprivileged children. (2)Jipange is an HIV/AIDS awareness initiative targeting youth with a message of sexual abstinence and promotion of marital fidelity for couples in long term relationships. (3)Ecotourism is a venture that organizes and co-ordinates local and international tourism explorations to various areas of interest in Western Kenya. (4)Peace and reconciliation mobilizes participants into forums in which we explore roots of discord and agree on best efforts towards mutual co-existence. Environment(1) Kitchengardens uses agricultural extension, advocacy and facilitation to promote the take-up and practice of organic farming. (2)Integrated waste management systems institutes policies and procedures of handling solid waste in Kitale town and its environs. (3) Environmental conservation initiatives include afforestation, re-forestation, agro-forestry, tree identification and naming, eco-tourism, conservation education and advocacy, climate change campaigning and community preservation of wetlands and riverine ecosystems. (4) Eco-friendly energy alternatives explore, promote and manage interventions that use renewable eco-friendly energy options and energy efficiency.

KESOFO is a registered humanitarian non-governmental organization with the goal of delivering programs of sport for health and social cohesion, specifically targeted at children, the youth and adults living in situations of disadvantage in both urban and rural areas. KESOFO promotes sport as a medium of health, training and social cohesion. Since inception, the organization has organized various sporting events at the sprawling slums of Eldoret and its environs as an innovative and creative program that enhances children’s growth, adult’s health, community development and promotes social inclusion and international understanding. In the realm of environment and climate change, KESOFO has organised and conducted cleaning and sanitation events in various residential neighbourhoods within Eldoret town, tree-planting exercises and environmental education.The overall purpose of KESOFO is to promote a culturally sensitive “sports for all” strategy, that avoids any form of discrimination, either, social, physical, gender, religious or ethnic, as values that enhances harmony in society, promotion of personal and collective responsibility and above all, contribute to the well being and transformation of society as a whole, with the aim of enhancing communal understanding and cooperation within society.Roles performed at KESOFO include;Project Manager- The Child-Safe Spaces for Sport and Feeding Project; Event Manager- Eldoret Peace Marathon; Finance and Accounting Manager- Awareness and Lifeskills Project; Peer Education Coordinator- Kick-And-Test Project; Liaison Officer- 'Let The Girls Play' Project; Project Officer- A Million Testing Campaign; Project Assistant- HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care (HAPAC) Project; Child Protection Officer- Child Rights Project

SELIDEF is a development facilitator and non-governmental organisation that focuses on uplifting the socio-economic well-being of the majority poor and marginalised populations by empowering them in meeting their spiritual and physical needs. This is done by implementing projects in the following thematic areas: Circle Of Light; Community Development; Conflict Management; Evangelism; Feed The Hungry; Malaria & HIV Support; Micro-Finance Program; Water and Sanitation; and Women’s Rights.Assignments undertaken during the consultancy included:1. Conducting due diligence activities and review of organisational performance,2. Provision of technical assistance in organizational governance, management, restrategising and sustainability,3. Preparation of organisational governance and performance documents- Activity Reports, Annual Reports, Financial and Operational Audits, Governance Manuals, Human Resource Policies, Finance and Accounting Policies, Monitoring and Evaluation Policies, Strategic Plans and By-Laws, Business Plans.

Worked on roles such as:1. Account opening,2. Cashiering- retail and corporate teller- cheque clearing, bulk cash handling and forex,3. Alternative business channels- managing ATMs, Point Of Sales outlets and Mobile Banking,4. Customer service- inquiries, including marketing bank deposit and credit products.

Performed the following roles:1. Merchandising- promoting Coca-cola products among retailers and wholesalers, pushing sales target and addressing sellers’ issues,2. Participation in sales and marketing promotional events,3. Maintaining sales and stocking records for wholesalers and retailers.

Supervised 45 workers responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene (collection of litter and garbage, slashing and lawn mowing, pruning fences and hedges and sanitizing drainages) in the Workshop Department, staff residential and surroundings.

As an Intern Field Assistant in the Animal Unit and Research Support Services: 1. Assisted in rearing, care, husbandry and preparation of research animals,2. Planning and implementing regular and special animal feeding and nutrition regimes,3. Helped in preparation of reagents, 4. Keeping of accounts and records in the research support unit,5. Preparation of field reports.

Lulu Farm is a large scale farming enterprise producing maize (both seed and commercial), wheat, beans and vegetables. Livestock (cattle, sheep and chicken) are also integrated in the operation. Duties allocated included:1. Conducting market spot checks for various Lulu enterprises including updates on the fastest moving and lucrative merchandise,2. Sourcing for farming input- both for crops and livestock,3. Marketing and selling of assorted farm produce from Lulu Farm,4. Supervision of cultivation of seed maize to meet contractual requirements of Kenya Seed Company,5. Providing technical agrovet advice to farmers purchasing farming input, equipment and supplies from Lulu Stores and Agrovet.

Worked in a team of 45 casuals in the maize seed processing and packaging lines- duties involving sorting, carrying, mixing, chemical application, packaging, sealing, stacking and loading of hybrid maize seed

Allocated duties were:1. Supervision of a workforce of 12 lumbermen in daily timber milling operations-loading and offloading of logs and timber, milling, sorting and arranging,2. Management of tree and log purchases from public and private forests and farm woodlots, and3. Management of timber sales (pricing and negotiation), complete with interactions and provision of technical advice to building contractors, carpenters and other timber buyers.
