Under the direction of the Associate Vice President and Chief Audit and Compliance Officer, collaborates in the strategic development and implementation of sustainable and effective programs to promote compliance in response to the changing needs of the University. Consults with university management and staff to develop annual and ethics risk assessment. Provides guidance, education, and direction to all UM stakeholders related to the management of compliance and enterprise risk management framework. Collaboratively partnering with University stakeholders in identifying and evaluating risks. Creating and leading a cross functional risk working group to provide risk intelligence to executive management and the Audit & Compliance Committee.

 Collaborated in the development of the FIU Compliance Program predicated on the elements of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, along with the University Compliance Liaison system, which consists of compliance stakeholders throughout the University (i.e., HR, Office of Research, Athletics, College of Medicine and Nursing, College of Law, Student Enrollment, IT Security, etc.). Proven record of leading and developing projects and managing teams to deliver timely compliance-related goals in fast-paced university environment, managing high volume workloads, identifying organizational problems and risks, and establishing corrective measures and recommendations that effectively utilize time and resources. Generated monthly and quarterly reports to present to the President, the Operations Committee and the Board of Trustees of all compliance-related matters and risks.  Implementation of initial University-wide Enterprise Risk Management process, which entailed defining and identifying risk categories, risk scores, risk assessment criteria, surveying and meeting with leadership members and designated risk experts to identify 72 potential risks. Created and maintained an Export Control Liaison system with 39 liaison members who handle Export Control issues throughout various affected areas of the University and drafted specific job descriptions that were made part of the Liaisons’ job position. Managed the University’s export control program to ensure compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements. Served as a central point of contact, working with Export Control Liaisons for advice, resources, education, and coordination of export control compliance for University faculty and staff, as well as the University's Empowered Official.

Centralized the Program with the creation of a 39 member university-wide liaison system, as well as new processes, documents and forms, Ensured that University’s actions met the standards of the Federal Regulations and Laws for Export Controls. Designed, developed and conducted live and online education and training.

 Oversaw DOL audits; researched and updated Employee Wage & Term Notices for 20 States and 974 stores; lead Federal and State regulatory compliance which saved the corporation from potential fines and penalties. Created reports and matrixes that tracked and recorded compliance with EO laws and regulations, which resulted in organizational and hiring changes and salary restructuring. Designed, developed and conducted employee training & education pertaining to Diversity, Sexual Harassment and ADA (Created and updated training manuals and DVDs). Reviewed, revised, created and implemented employee handbooks and all corporate policies. Submitted and implemented 21 Affirmative Action Plans (AAP), as well as the EEO-1 and Vets 100-A reports for the corporation on an annual basis. Project Manager for the Conversion of Assistant Manager Trainees to non-exempt employees through SAP and payroll systems, which resulted in compliance expenditure savings for the company.
