Program DirectorI initiated and managed federally funded family enhancement programs in Austin and Bastrop: research on Latino targeted populations, leaded focus groups, organized databases, wrote curriculums and implemented program evaluations to improve forecasting and marketing. Got from the Texas Education Agency the award as the best family program in the state.

Initiated and placed into operations a Robert Wood Johnson program on preventive health care for low income residents in Austin. Created the database to manage performance of curriculum and staff to implement predefined goals. Expanded this program into local public schools; started a new community economic venture-a catering healthy food business managed by low-income program participants. Got the RW Johnson yearly award for excellency.

I taught computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite and multimedia) to provide students with job skills; started a technology program for Environmental Corps and Green Builders and initiated a joint grant with ACC Adult Education to teach PC and job skills to inmates close to be released from the Travis County Correctional facilities.

Evaluated instructional content and formats used by the Adult Education Division, and helped to select the educational software used by instructors. I trained teachers on the use of new software, and installed PC networks- units and peripherals- in different sites.

Technology and Adult Education InstructorTaught to low-income residents of East Austin how to use technology and the Internet to improve language skills, search for jobs and enhance their educational opportunities. In charge of the joint venture between ALA and the Urban League to set the first technology center in East Austin.

Created a social and economic survey to assess and design new instructional curriculum to fulfill the needs of low skilled workers displaced by the global economy.

Did socioeconomic and environmental impact studies on communities in the US and Mexico and educated on environmental issues faced by US-Mexico border communities. Wrote and published articles about NAFTA impacts on Latino communities.

Participated in NAFTA meetings connected to its impacts on the agricultural sector of the Mexico and the USA rural communities. Did a Latin American survey on agriculture and trade.

I studied the impacts of immigration on the US economy, coordinated the regional and national AFSC efforts to modify the Immigration Reform Act, and obtained for the AFSC 250 national and regional organizations supporting it as amice curiae on a legal suit challenging the law.

I did a survey on trends and needs of rural populations in Florida, managed six programs totaling $1 million in rural assistance for job training, housing construction, rural rehab, micro lending and children education. I was in charge of budgets, evaluations, programs and personnel.

Produced feasibility studies to create rural economic campesino ventures to serve global markets of organic products, organized workshops on how to use appropriate technologies to add value to their products, access credit, and implementing direct marketing to reach consumers.

Managed programs, budget, personnel, did fundraising and public relations. I evaluated the rural development projects funded by the agency in the South, Central America and Mexico regions.

Studied the Lake Titicaca region to determine manpower, technology assets and organizing capabilities of the indigenous communities to implement NGOs and government efforts to help cope with a heavy drought by combining renewable energy technologies to new forms of irrigation systems and planting.

Evaluation of the US-AID contracted educational program to teach technical curriculum skills to educators of the Polytechnic Institute of Panama.

Provided managerial training to regional organizers in order to plan and implement community rural development projects in the Southwest. Projects involved managing seed money to create local development corporations (LDC's) to solve energy, housing, and food production needs. Incorporated appropriated technologies to improve home energy efficiency and in the local production of food.

I taught business development, administration and marketing to members of farmworker production cooperatives in the Santa Maria and Salinas Valleys. These cooperatives successfully achieved their economic and social goals and evolved into small farmer communities.
