Nelson Shaffer serves as a Senior Consultant of Pennoni Associates. Nelson joined the firm in 1979 and previously served as Region 8 Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Office Principal for the firm's office in Philadelphia, PA, Senior Vice President and Transportation Technology Principal. Nelson was one of the two original staff responsible for the creation of the Transportation Technology at Pennoni. He has experience in transportation project management and organizational management.Nelson is familiar with various Departments of Transportation and other transportation agencies’ design regulations and contract procedures as well as local and federal guidelines for transportation related requirements.Nelson was the former chairman of the firm's Strategic Planning Committee. A Fellow and Life Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Nelson served as President of the Mid-Atlantic Section and District 2 in ITE as well as the International Director for the District. He is a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) and the former Chairman of the Southwest Delaware County Municipal Authority. He was a member of the Villanova CEE Advisory Committee for over 10 years.
