As an STL, I'm responsible to provide daily leadership and direction to the shift operations organization by giving day-to-day operational guidance. The STL is the main liaison between the shift operations and the Angola LNG management team. The STL is the main contact between the offshore operating blocks and the LNG facility for daily gas management. As an STL, I'm responsible for the daily interface between production and maintenance. I'm also responsible for ensuring that all training and nationalization programs for my shift is carried out and delivered in a timely and appropriate fashion.

Apart from the DCS operator responsibilities (managing process operations) as a senior operator I was also responsible to managing peopleI was responsible to provide daily leadership and direction to the shift operations by giving day-to-day operational guidance. I was the main liaison between the shift operations and the shift team leaders, I was also responsible for the daily interface between production and maintenance and the direct operations of the facilities. Ensuring that all training and nationalization programs for their shift was carried out and delivered in a timely and appropriate fashion was also part of my responsibilities.

As a DCS operator-Process, my main responsibility was to achieve Angola LNG Operational objectives by consistently maintaining, adjusting, reviewing and manipulating the DCS control system for the Process portion of the Angola LNG facility. The Process portion includes all processing sections of the facility, such as, ISBL (Inside Battery Limit), OSBL (Outside Battery Limit) and S&L (Storage and loading).The ISBL portion of the process includes AGRU, Liquefaction, and distillationThe OSBL portion of the process includes power generation, water treatment, flare systems, nitrogen generation, instrument air systems, and all other utilities systems.The storage and loading (S&L) portion of the process includes the storage for LNG, LPG, Condensate and the loading and jetty operations for LNG, Butane, Propane, Condensate and pressurized Butane.As a DCS operator, I was also responsible for all DCS related operations regarding the Process section of the Angola LNG facility. I was responsible to monitor all safety parameters and make process adjustment to maintain safe and efficient plant operations. As a DCS operator I had to ensure smooth and safe operations across the entire LNG facility.

As a Control Room Technician I had the opportunity to control and monitor all the jobs around the process plant (from the control room perspective), have discussions with technicians in a toolbox talks before the jobs commence and work along with the technicians in specific jobs, either routine or critical jobs. It was also my responsibility to operate & monitor 21 oil & gas wells, 3 gas injection wells, 21 water injection wells along with all process topside and all Fire & Gas Safety Systems onboard the FPSO.

My work experience at BP, included 3.5 years’ experience working in refineries; Sapref Refinery in Durban - South Africa (oil plant) as well as Saltend Refinery in Hull – England (ammonia gas plant). In Sapref Refinery I did the refinery school in the beginning of my career and in Saltend Refinery I worked as a process operator as part of my BTEC national certificateMy followed experience with BP was on Greater Plutonio Block 18. I had been with this project all the way from the vessel building in South Korea, Hyundai Construction Yard, up to the various years of smooth running process. I worked a 21 days on 21 days off rotation, and I was an Operator Technician during the project commissioning & first oil phases of the FPSO.As a Production Technician I held the position of lead technician / coach. My job was to monitor the topside process plant from the outside perspective ( which include all the topside process operations and utilities), as well as mentored new incoming production technicians, either Angolan or Expats.I was then chosen by my higher level of performance and knowledge of the FPSO processes to move into a role as a Control Room Technician.

My carrier included 3 years of experience on drilling rigs, working as a painter, roustabout, roughneck and derrick man at Cabinda - Angola offshore in Transocean Sedco Forex Company. My followed experience was with MI Swaco, I worked there as a technician, to operate the Swaco centrifuge. The responsibility was to remove the cuttings coming from the well with the drilling fluid by filtering the drilling mud using Swaco centrifuge.
