At Martingale, we set out to revolutionize the auto insurance industry by developing a cutting-edge mobile app that transformed traditional practices. We built sophisticated underwriting algorithms and designed the smoothest onboarding flow in the market. Our app was the first to introduce the ability for users to pause their car insurance—a feature that redefined flexibility for drivers.We were the first to integrate advanced telematics data and credit scoring factors into our underwriting process, allowing for deeper and more accurate assessment of risk. These all culminated in the user experience that provided a fair and accurate insurance quote in 90 seconds. Four years into our journey, we pivoted to focus on AI-enabled solutions for claims handling. We developed an application equipped with image recognition technology to detect car damage and triage claims efficiently. Our team grew to 40 with offices in San Francisco, Beijing and Tijuana. Although we eventually folded Martingale, I am proud to have built many solutions that helped people across the US and significantly advanced the field of digital insurance.
