Lead a team charged with the task of enhancing the framework to support the management of application, both in auto-discovery, i.e. probing, and monitoring, with bindings to foreign languages, primarily Java through JNI and Perl. This resulted in a component used several times afterwards and a patented method for describing and deciding the topology of an application based on results of probes.

Worked on the Advanced Development group where it started prototypes in Application Management and MPLS. Developed, and oversaw deployment and use of first custom Application Management solution at Genuity (now Level3 Communications), which then was transformed in product called Application Services Manager. Improved in a significant way the efficiency of the codebook correlation algorithm when under deeply interdependent symptoms.

Performed maintenance duties on the server component of the Altitude suite server side, specializing in concurrency issues. Developed a validating intermediary layer to the agent server component to improve user experience and product reliability. Prototyped an XML-RPC access interface to the agent server component.

Architected, designed and implemented the Event correlation and notification system for the IT infrastructure of Portugal Telecom, including a custom Hermes SMS and pager system with routing rules. Co-lead the IT Management practice at Link Consulting where was responsible by the team developing a simulator of the mediation level to support the development of the Alcatel proprietary management system for the Alcatel switches, defined the set of best practices to be followed by Optimus Negócios (then Novis), the telecom arm of the Portuguese SONAE conglomerate, Co-lead an IT security audit to the Portuguese Finance Ministry’s Informatics Institute.
