Nelson is an Architect, Educator and Researcher.Currently, he holds a position as Associate Professor at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), where he completed a PhD on the interwoven relation between modernity and the vernacular tradition in housing design.Nelson graduated in architecture at the University of Coimbra, where he lectured until 2009.Since 2009, he has been teaching seminars and design studios as part of the educational portfolio of the chair Architecture and Dwelling at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment - TU Delft. From 2013 until 2017, Nelson also collaborated with The Berlage Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design as guest scholar.Nelson has professional experience as an architect with projects designed and built in different categories such as housing, hotels, rehabilitation of urban spaces and interior design. He is a founding partner at COMOCO architects.Nelson won and was short-listed in several academic and professional prizes. Among them, winner of the 1st Távora Prize in 2006, winner of the “Alexandre Herculano” 2003 National Architectural Prize, and winner of the National Prize for Architecture in Wood 2013.In 2010 he published the book "A Arquitectura do Quotidiano" (The Architecture of the Everyday), which was finalist in the ENOR Prize 2011 - category "Thought and Criticism".Since 2009, Nelson has published widely in professional magazines, scholarly journals and books and conference proceedings.
