I am working with Dr. Courtney Aldrich in the Center for Drug Design on the design of novel antibiotics. My project involves both the total synthesis of a number of natural products, and the biochemical testing of compounds against various bacterial strains.
I work on multiple projects including the total synthesis of some simple natural products of biological interest, as well as some classic SAR studies of lead compounds in our group. Our ultimate goal is to find new anti-tubercular agents that function through novel mechanisms of action.
I performed routine tests for new products in development and as a quality assurance check for current products. Developed new methodology for testing when required for a new/developing product.
