Nelson is a highly-motivated strategist who leverages the innovative use of technologies for business, with over 30 years of proven delivery, coupled with strong organization developmental skills in leading large transformative change. He understands public good and held executive leadership positions in the British Columbia provincial government for over 20 years, including being the CIO at the former Ministry of Forests and the first CTO for Shared Services BC.Under his strategic leadership, innovative approach, and business acumen the ministries won numerous awards including multiple GTEC, CIPA, and BC Premier’s awards.In the private sector, Nelson led major pursuits over $500M, created partnership agreements with key products vendors in global markets, and delivered mission critical projects to client satisfaction.He is a trusted advisor on acquisitions, strategic planning, complex partnerships and linkages with other government, academia and industry alliances. He chairs the Simon Fraser University’s Business Technology Management (BTM) Advisory Board and is a mentor at both UVic’s Gustavson Mentor Program (BComm and MBA students) and SFU Beedie School of Business, winning Mentor of the Year.
