I have over 20 years of experience in all types of networking and security environments, especially with Cisco Systems solutions, for which I accumulated multiple certifications, ranging from CCNA, CCNP to CCIE, including specific technology specializations in security, voice and Internet development. I am also a former Microsoft Systems Engineer and Novell CNA, and an enthusiast supporter of Opensource.For many years now, on a daily-basis, I've been using Linux and other Unix operating systems, accumulating experience with several old-school environments. So, as the World trends more and more towards Opensource, these skills allowed me to start increasingly designing, deploying and implementing open networking and open platforms combined with hardware and software manufacturer solutions, creating higher resiliency, higher availability architectures.My skills, tied with security-wide awareness, brought me extensive experience on multiple types of vulnerabilities development, assessments and ethical exploitation, usually know as ethical hacking. For my years of experience in security and networking fields, I've been attributed a perpetual professional INFOSEC certification.My curiosity leads me to investigate and research on multiple subjects. Some of them brought me to participate with well-known community groups, like the Open Infrastructure Foundation / Openstack Foundation, the Telecom Infrastructure Project, Internet Society (PT Chapter) or the Maker Community.On my off-time, several hobbies help me release the stress of the daily professional life. Some of these hobbies also helped me excel in different areas, like Storytelling, which I use to write Dungeons & Dragons adventures and campaigns; or 3D Print and Design, which I use to design engineering parts for multiple purposes, like IoT devices or create scenarios and miniatures for tabletop Role-Play games. Somehow, sometimes I can find time to watch a movie or a TV series.I also try to contribute socially when possible. I'm particularly proud of being a part the #3DMask Portugal (https://3dmask-portugal.eu) pro bono project, which had the purpose of 3D printing parts and assemble them into face-shield masks, free for everyone that was in the front line of the virus war.This and similar projects (like its New Zealand sibling or the one from Prusa3D) supplied enough time for Government, Health and First Responders to organize and get needed supplies. It was an on-going project until 2021, when personal devices where surrendered by industrial printers that members managed to onboard.
