I am Nelson, and believe it or not, my Mohawk is the least exciting thing about me. Some people react to life and others who JUS DO IT. I fall into group #2. I almost did not fall into any group. When I was 13, I was hit by the moving No. 7 express train in NYC. It is unreal; I survived and am living to tell my story. The surgeons permanently removed the top of my forehead. Imagine walking around every day and missing a big piece of your skull. I did, and my head has partially grown back, but the scars are there. I lost my memory before that day, but I am alive, and the only path in life is forward. Success is equally about the hustle and the wins. Not too many years ago, I was driving a yellow taxi in NYC. That job was precisely where I was supposed to be. Like most entrepreneurs, I was nursing my latest failure when I met people from all over the globe and explored every nook and cranny of New York City. I loved that job, as I studied cultural anthropology in college and met new people from all over the world, from Queens, NYC, and Queensland, to Queen Victoria Islands.All my travels around the city had me noticing the same problem repeatedly. Parents had a terrible time navigating car seats for their young children. They must lug it around them through airports to have a place for their child to sit in a taxi or Uber car. Additionally, the parent must install the car seat once they bring the heavy car seat to the vehicle. And anyone with kids knows this is a recipe for starting tantrums and tensions running high.I created Kidmoto to solve the problem with child car seats and transportation. We match parents with professional drivers who provide the safety and convenience of installed child car seats for airport car transportation. Parents can ditch the car seats when traveling because the Kidmoto app does everything for them.I started this company with only $600 and a lot of sweat equity. I was on a mission. I worked 16-20 hours 7 days for years. I could afford only two car seats before starting Kidmoto. I had no money, investors, lousy credit, and an unsupportive girlfriend. We have an incredible team; we survived COVID-19 and keep expanding nationally. I have been a model, a cab driver, a real estate developer, owned a construction company, and more. But I have always been an entrepreneur. So I plan to keep pushing forward and innovating, no matter where my path may take me.
