I was responsible for mentoring student groups during their Senior Software Design course. Each group works on a year long project addressing a problem supplied by an external sponsor. I provided guidance on problem solving, graded course, and developed course automation tools.

I taught CS344: Operating Systems 1. The course is an introduction to the functionality provided by a multiprogrammed operating system. This includes the use of the shell, common tools, process and thread control, and interprocess communication -- shared memory, message queues, pipes, and sockets.

Ocean state forecasting is growing in demand, as models improve, and we better understand our reliance on changing ocean chemistry. Working in collaboration with the University of Washington Coastal Modeling Group, I developed a proof of concept system that employed cloud infrastructure to process the raw output of the Coastal Modeling Group's volumetric forecasting model into usable visualizations.

As a Research Intern I worked on visualizing scientific (oceanographic primarily) data using the F# language for data analysis and Layerscape visualization tools.
