The role of Information Technology (IT) Operations Director involved working at the head office of the world’s biggest Financial Advisory firm. I was reporting directly to the company CEO and I was responsible for planning, organizing, budgeting, supervising, and directing the IAI Group’s Information Technology operations. Those responsibilities included the oversight of all company information systems, hardware, software, databases, and networks. I was also responsible for successfully managing the IAI Group’s IT systems; all associated personnel; the financial responsibilities inherent in the work; and the intellectual property, equipment, materials, and supplies utilized in performing all information technology related functions. As Director of IS I was responsible for the IT infrastructure of Orbit Communications Company, an international digital satellite broadcasting network. Orbit broadcasts over thirty fully digital channels, serving all of the Middle East and North Africa. I reported to the company’s IS Vice President, and was responsible for the Management Information Systems and voice and data telecommunications facilities for Orbit's customer service headquarters. My role included overseeing the development, maintenance and security of a LAN and WAN consisting of many Novell, WindowsNT, VMS and UNIX based network systems.
