Neo Lynch possesses more than 22 years of expertise in teaching a wide array of students, from K-12 learners engaging in recreational dance to those competing at national levels, as well as guiding pre-professional and seasoned professional dancers throughout the United States. With her background as a competitive dancer, Neo obtained comprehensive training for in various styles including ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, gymnastics, lyrical, contemporary, and hip-hop. During her illustrious career, Neo collaborated with a host of eminent artists and producers from the music and entertainment sector, including Beyonce, Ciara, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Chris Brown, P. Diddy, Gucci Mane, Swizz Beatz, Nelly, the Ying-Yang Twinz, Bow-Wow, The Dream, Sean Garrett, Keri Hilson, Lil Wayne, Crime Mob, Young Jeezy, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Cherish, and Tyler Perry. Her work brought her into contact with industry-leading choreographers like Jamaica Craft, Fatima Robinson, Frank Gatson, Laurieann Gibson, Richy Squirrel, Marty Kudleka, Sean Bankhead, JaQuel Knight, Galen Hooks, James Alsop, Jamal Story, Bubba Carr, Ebony Williams, Amy Allen, and Hinton Battle.Neo is committed to creating and nurturing spaces where dance is accessible and welcoming for all. As an educator, she is actively involved with the Dance Studies Association (DSA), the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), and the Youth Protection in Dance (YPAD) through her memberships. She has established the Black Dance Teachers Association (BDTA) where she leads as the founder and director. Additionally, Neo sponsors The Abby Warren Memorial Chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), ensuring recognition for dancers who excel academically and artistically.Holding a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University, Neo is presently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Choreography at Jacksonville University. Her research delves into themes such as hermeneutics, whiteness studies, and the ideologies of Color-Blind and Color-Consciousness within dance education. Neo is dedicated to contributing knowledge that roots commercial dance practices in the rich legacy of African diaspora communities, challenging Eurocentric dominance in dance spaces. Her mentorship with RVA Swing aims to broaden her capabilities in Vernacular Jazz and reform categories within dance competitions, moving away from ballet-centric criteria.
