1) My role involves assisting in the investigation of cases and with the presentation of cases before the Competition Tribunal. and also to -2) Assist in the interpretation of relevant legislation and jurisprudence 3) Draft and settle pleadings and papers, including but not limited to: referral affidavits, answering and replying affidavits.4) Advise the Commissioner of suitable terms of settlement, the negotiation of suitable terms of settlements, the drafting of settlement agreements, and confirmation of settlement agreements as consent orders.5) Study and evaluate all documents contained in the record of the investigation and advise case teams as required6) Prepare for and attend pre-hearing conferences including, liaising with participating parties on the agenda for the pre-hearing conference, the filing of any outstanding documents, proposed dates for the hearing and any outstanding confidentiality and discovery issues.7) Identify and consult with suitable witnesses including expert witnesses and draft witness statements.8) Conduct hearings as required including but not limited to the presentation of opening statements, the leading of evidence cross examination and presentation of final argument9) Study and advise on conclusions and recommendations contained in reports and legal opinions prepared by and for the Commission and/or the Competition Tribunal.10) Prepare legal opinions for case teams and stakeholders

• My role was to investigate and be involved in the handling of complaints and exemption applications in terms of Chapter 2 of the Competition Act 89 of 1998. & also to:• to administer and execute activities to build capacity for research and report writing; • to serve on Commission committees / task teams; • to participate in the general administration of the section I was assigned to.
