I am an experienced web developer with several years experience developing with JavaScript / HTML / CSS. I have designed, built, and maintained web applications and features with modern frameworks (Angularjs, Angular) using modern tooling over several years including Ant/Grunt/Gulp/WebPack, SVN/Mercurial/Git, Less/Sass, JSLint/ESLint, Prettier, Jasmine/Karma/Protractor, NPM/Yarn, and Babel/TypeScript. I have participated in and lead teams that prioritize product quality through development processes including standup meetings, peer reviews, regular stakeholder participation, automated testing (including TDD), and manual testing.ActionScript was my introduction high level programming - I started by adding interactive elements to Macromedia Flash movies and extracting text content from XML. Then I helped write entire web applications with Adobe Flash / Flex. This is where I was introduced to frameworks like PureMVC and Robotlegs which improved the code organization and design of my applications. From there I was hooked on continued education. I love to learn new things.I was privileged to be able to work with techniques.org/Regis Learning Solutions as they helped me go to college to become a more rounded developer. In school I learned more about Java, but also tackled other interesting programming languages including C/C++, Lisp, Prolog, Ruby, Python, and Mathematica. I was also exposed to SQL and the many paradigms of programming languages. I graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelors in Science: Computer Science. I graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a 4.0 GPA, earning the outstanding student award. School also gained me a good group of friends who also program.

Principal Software DeveloperLiteracy Design Collaborative Dec 2013 - PresentNew York CityLDC is a small company and as a result, I get the pleasure of managing several processes that would otherwise be managed by different people.SoftwareI helped create and maintain LDC CoreTools. This started as a tool to help teachers author assignment-driven and education standards-driven curriculum. Since the initial release of LDC CoreTools, it has grown in both form and function. We have included tools for continued professional development, data access for coaches and administrators, improved collaboration and sharing, group management, and much more. We also converted from Angular 1.3 all the way to Angular 7 with all of the dependencies and challenges that this entails including going from JavaScript and Grunt to TypeScript and WebPack.Quality AssuranceI have developed and maintained unit and end to end (e2e) tests using Karma, Jasmine, Protractor, Circle CI, and others. LDC does a staged release process with manual testing on a staging environment to ensure that all of the edges are tested. The LDC development team takes Peer Review seriously and every pull request is peer-reviewed before it is merged. Peer review, e2e tests, and unit tests add up to a stable product despite the significant code changes required for the many upgrades we have completed.SupportI manage the customer support process. We do not get many support requests, however, when we get an issue, I am responsible for taking it from the initial request through triage, root cause analysis, code/data changes, and user communication. I often rely on several team members to identify the context and solve the problems. I also build and maintain site licenses to fulfill contracts and support the internal team.Product ManagementI help determine which feature requests make it into the product, how to address the specific problems and how to ensure it all fits together in a neat package. I am not the sole stakeholder, I work to identify problems and features with the greater team. -
Software EngineerClickfox Jan 2012 - Dec 2013DenverI helped maintain a Flex based dashboard as well as contribute to the development of new features. I assisted in estimation, debugging, continuous integration, and testing. I redesigned a flex component that visualizes a graph where 20,000 nodes is a representative count. I also worked as the architect of a major redesign of the dashboard where we implemented an MV* pattern where models are injected into view logic. This effort has enabled the UI team to develop features at a much faster pace.I designed and developed the client of a REST based, single page, web application for the creation of multi-stage Extract Transform and Load process via a domain-specific language. I worked with a team of Java engineers, QA personnel, and primary stakeholders during this development. Moving forward, this software will play an important roll in reducing the time required to ramp up new clients or deal with changes in raw data.I worked on migrating a large flex application to JavaScript/HTML via an iterative process. I contributed to the design of a method of communication between Flash and JavaScript that is simple, extensible, and that can be gracefully removed once the flash piece has been completely replaced. I also collaborated with other developers in creating a process and library set that will support this large-scale application. In the process, I worked with Requirejs, Backbone, Hogan (a Mustache based template library), and Bootstrap. Our process incorporated QUnit, Sinon, Grunt, JSLint, Phantomjs, and Nodejs to support our continuous integration and ensure stability.

Lead Software DeveloperRegis Learning Solutions May 2004 - Jan 2012I worked on a Flex 4.1 based web application that allowed RLS to create content via a JSON based domain specific language. I was in charge of the development of 3 separate courses utilizing technologies including asp.net and papervision 3D. I contributed to several single use flex and flash SCORM packaged applications. I lead development for many courses in RLS's proprietary SCORM based eLearning framework for clients like the US Air Force, the Department of Defense, the Department of Education, and several large private corporations. I assisted in asset development, and SCORM conformance testing/validation.Part of my job involved time estimation for software development, managing a team of other developers, and running team meetings. I also traveled to client sites to debug LMS related problems.During this time I contributed to over 30 courses. I worked on asset development and content delivery via our custom frameworks and one off applications in pure AS3 and Flex. I contributed to development of international courses in languages like Vietnamese and Korean. The framework for which I was the architect required Section 508 compliance, so it had to be accessible to screen readers, magnifiers, etc. -
Lead Software DeveloperTechniques.Org 2004 - 2009Golden ColoradoI lead a small team in the development of a skinnable, functionally customizable, and purely client side education web application using pure ActionScript 3 to be distributed in SCORM based LMS's. I also later added Flex integration for plugins and content.I maintained and developed features for an ActionScript 2 based education web application, as well as graphic and programmatic content creation.I lead the design and development of a Java ETL that converted Word based storyboard documents into pure/simple xml to be used by the flash based education framework.I constructed the functionality of custom animation and user interactions using Flash for education.I created custom XML and HTML files for the development of SCORM compliant computer based training. In this time I contributed to over 20 courses. I created content as well as worked on the delivery platform.
