About Nicholas C.

It started with an accidental command typed into an Apple IIe BASIC terminal and turned into an obsession into understanding how technology works. Now I'm happily creating system solutions of my own.I consider my current skill set to most resemble that of a π’πžπ§π’π¨π« π’π²π¬π­πžπ¦π¬ πƒπžπ―πžπ₯𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 π„π§π π’π§πžπžπ« with a focus on software and electronics. My comfort languages are Java, C++, and Python, but I find it easy to transition to any language. I’ve also coded in C, PHP, x86 assembly, and more. I use GNU/Linux extensively and also have some Windows development experience.I design and built electronic prototypes and PCBs. I’ve constructed custom processors with integrated peripherals on FPGAs with VHDL. My time working in industrial automation informs my working knowledge of control theory. I've used geometric analysis, calculus, statistical analysis, Fourier transforms, and linear algebra to solve complex business and technology problems.I have a deep love for STEAM disciplines and love to pass this knowledge to others. I'm constantly looking for novel ways to communicate concepts.My philosophy on engineering best practices is constantly evolving. In my experience most technological problems, especially in software, are human problems. Solutions are built on top of other solutions by engineers with potentially limited exposure to the actual customer need. Knowing this fact informs the way I operate. I work hard to understand the problem to make sure I design the right solution. Engineering paradigms can provide clarity and help unify processes, but they have limits.
