Attorney with more than 20 years of professional experience in human rights, rule of law and international development. Currently, Nerea Aparicio serves as a Consultant at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties and Senior Advisor to All in for Development. Prior to joining All in, Nerea Aparicio was the Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Division at the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI). From 2006-2014, Ms. Aparicio served as Principal Human Rights Specialist at the O.A.S.’ Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, one of the main organs of the regional human rights protection system for the Americas. Previously, Nerea Aparicio worked for the United Nations in different capacities at the Office in Colombia of the UNHCHR, the UN Mission for the Verification of the Peace Accords in Guatemala (MINUGUA), and the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations in Geneva (Switzerland). In addition to her native Spanish Ms. Aparicio is fluent in English and French. She holds a Masters’ Degree in International Legal Studies (LL.M.) from the American University, Washington College of Law, (Washington D.C.) and earned her law degree from the University of Deusto School of Law (Bilbao, Spain). Nerea Aparicio is a member of the Madrid Bar.
