Contracted to provide guidance to the New Product Development team and update their internal pseudo-ERP system, Fandango, which exists in a client / server configuration and includes a private automation server for automated reports and interface with Stryker's production ERP system. After several years without updates, the team had a number of desired enhancements and the software had several incompatibilities or failures due to old hardware and outdated operating system versions.On a limited budget, I was able to provide the following updates from their need list:• Reverse engineer and recreate the non-functional Fandango automation server to restore desired automation to the software• Update code for operation with modern operating system releases and Microsoft Office versions, as well as provide 64-bit code compatibility• Complete re-imagining of the reporting system to allow increased flexibility. This provided a more consistent experience for the users, user defined views with on-the-fly custom field selection and sorting, and extended the limited export functionality to provide export functionality to all available reports.• Behind the scenes, streamlined redundant code in both the MS Access front end, as well as the SQL Server stored procedures, promoting efficiency and enhanced code reuse and code extensibility.

Implement the vision of the Youth and Family Pastor for ministry to children from birth through 5th grade, their families, and the volunteers that serve them in a congregation of nearly 1,500 people.• Provided intentional encouragement to volunteers by studying their struggles and providing guidance or removing obstacles to effective ministry.• Equipped volunteers through regular devotional emails, choosing curriculum and programs that build them up and encourage their own personal growth.• Increasingly sought opportunities to serve among volunteers, rather than maintaining a bird's eye view, which allowed me to foresee needs and relate to ministry challenges in an impactful way.• Sought program changes that promoted and supported parental leadership of their child's spiritual development, rather than seeking to replace or usurp them.• Developed leadership teams over various sub-ministries and held regular leadership meetings to encourage volunteer ownership and teamwork.• Improved the resources available to volunteers to give them the tools to be successful by expanding and relocating the Teacher Resource Room, studying how they used the tools they have, and providing visual aids, craft materials and extra study helps.• Successfully launched the church's first Vacation Bible School in many years with increased success in the second year.

Ensure high quality standards for the company’s web presence and distribution magazine. Card Player Media was a leading online information portal for the poker industry, similar in style to CNN or MSNBC, that realized top one thousand traffic rankings in the world for multiple months per year and averaged seven million page views per day during peak periods.• Tested and proved each new iteration of the web site tools and design elements by providing feedback to the programmers and designers to resolve bugs, or errors in implementation, before they reached the clients.• Examined programming and design practices and made adjustment recommendations to reduce bug creation and to create consistency across the brand.• Managed CentOS server environment consisting of 23 web servers, 4 media servers, 7 ad servers, 7 database servers in a MySQL cluster, and several additional servers providing email, DNS, etc.• Led a team of volunteer moderators in keeping the company's online user forums clean and in order while promoting a sense of community.• Served as a liaison between the technology minded software developers and the clients they served by providing staff with insights into real world usability and helping improve the client experience.

Provided technical oversight to the company's hosting servers. Assisted with oversight of company operation and assets and provided level 3 support to VIP clients, until the company employees were absorbed into CardPlayer Media's technical team.

Doobla was founded with the goal of providing IT solutions to local business and faith-based ministries to remove the burden of technology and allow them to focus on their stated purpose. It morphed into providing support for web based organizations and supporting their infrastructure.• Provided desktop support and consulting for local businesses with 1 to 10 employees to help them navigate between then-current fads and what their company actually needed• Created software automation for Business Intelligence tasks in various languages and on multiple server environment types, including various *nix flavors and Windows.• Built software tools to tie together APIs for various web hosting related software packages• Provided security audits for servers and implemented creative and flexible intrusion detection and prevention mechanisms to fight DDoS attacks, rootkits, injections and other such malicious activity • Performed web site migration across various platforms for thousands of web sites with careful planning to provide little or no downtime, individually or in batches.

Created on-time and within-budget custom software solutions to meet niche needs for small local businesses as well as teams within large corporations, such as Meijer and Bissell.• Worked harmoniously within a team of MS Access developers as well as standalone, when needed, to ensure client needs were met.• Served as client liaison to cut through technical jargon and corporate lingo to ensure the client received the best implementation of their imagined solution.• Re-imagined the company's in-house training center. Created automation to provide a consistent and clean experience for each new student and for the trainer that promoted distraction-free instruction.

Completed a rewrite of the DIS Inspect software, which was originally written for DOS in QBasic, for the metrology industry. DIS Inspect provided an automated way of capturing data measurements from CMM machines, gauges and other similar devices whereby calculation, analysis and reports could be generated without user error. It was loved by clients in the automotive, medical and other industries.• Created a from-the-ground-up rewrite of the software for Windows primarily in Visual Basic 6, which was the owner's preference, but also including custom designed C++ components to support security and reporting aspects of the software where Visual Basic was limited.• Created various industry relevant graphs and print reports that were designed for clean readability. Some examples include first article inspection to blueprint specifications, process capability studies (Cpk, Ppk, histograms, etc.) as well as PPAP and other custom True Position reports.• Designed an interface that allowed the software to "flex" to the output of any machine and gather its collected measurements in real time without user intervention beyond the initial setup. This process ensured that human error from transcription was removed from the equation while saving the technicians many hours per job.• Wrote a secured report extension of the software using high end MD5 and RC4 encryption that allowed electronic copies of reports to be sent between technicians and engineers and their clients without fear of tampering.• Created a reusable PDF library in Visual Basic that allowed for full manipulation of PDF files, including custom implementations of the MD5 and RC4 algorithms. The encryption was subsequently recreated in C++ for performance reasons.• Extensive use of the Windows API allowed us to provide a way for jobs (documents) to be loaded and managed by the user by exposing details about the job in a grid view rather than an arbitrary filename listing.
