About Nerissa Ng
Hello! I am pursuing a career in government relations and community engagement, with an interest in the anti-hunger sphere. My passion for combatting food insecurity on a systemic level may have stemmed from my personal experiences, but it has grown through my numerous experiences working in public policy, advocacy, and relationship building. With smaller non-profits, such as Children's HealthWatch and Swipe Out Hunger, I contributed to state campaigns by uplifting constituent voices and directly communicating with elected officials in state government. With the Congressional Hunger Center and Share Our Strength, I pivoted to federal relations, honing my skills in effective relationship-building with key stakeholders within the federal, public, and private sectors, and advocating for federal policies to best address food insecurity among children and families. Additional internships with the House of Representatives and the Senate from different party affiliations have offered me valuable insight into the opposite side of the government relations process. I value non-partisan and inter-partisan collaboration, and I hope to bring that understanding to the table by respecting and understanding different beliefs, as well as shaping my approach regarding government relations based on them. I hope to take the skills I have grown in relationship building and policy analysis to enter the field of government relations.Aside from reveling in the young naivete that 20-somethings have about changing the world, I enjoy writing poetry, walking in nature, and making delicious messes in my kitchen.
