human first. For me, ‘human’ is a reminder of shared experience, falability and individualility. Intersectionality is my authentic self. I am the combination of all my dimensions of identity, unedited and with all of my lived-experience. I am not one thing. I do not fit in a box. I am human.Hi, I’m Ness, I use he/him pronouns and this is my lens: Human. Dad. Gran’s kid always and Pop’s ‘Tiger’ forever. Australian. Mixed race. white-presenting. Much journeyed and ever journeying. Grateful to live, strive and thrive on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Coast Salish peoples. Social Justice and Inclusion, Strategist and Counsellor. Competing Canadian Paralympian. Queer. Trans. Disabled. Blind. Lover of puzzles, connection and culture. Still reads bedtime stories.——Bio:Ness Murby (he/him) works as a Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Strategist and Counsellor. He is also a currently competing Paralympian. Ness is a dual national, Australian, born in Melbourne, and Canadian, by immigration. He currently resides on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Coast Salish peoples. Lived experience and common humanity fuel his passion for justice and inclusion. His background spans a few decades with expertise including anatomy and physiology, applied psychology, business management, education and pedagogy, facilitation and mediation, inclusive design, industrial design, marketing and organisational strategy. He has represented three countries in three ParaSports: Australia, Japan and Canada; Goalball, Powerlifting and ParaAthletics and holds world records as well as world, continental, and national titles. As the first openly trans Paralympian Ness is carving out and holding space for the trans community and future generations. He currently competes in Men’s F11 discus, making history in 2022 as he entered the world rankings as a trans man. Advocate and public figure, Ness is a passionate contributor, facilitator and collaborator. Much of his work is grounded in holding space and amplifying underrepresented voices. He has shared his lived experience and expertise in spaces including mainstream media, conferences, panels, educational keynotes and hearings.
