I have done a lot of management/software/application development and I have interacted with many of my customers helping them with numerous computer systems, configuration, and hardware problems using Teamviewer and Skype. I have become very good at networking computers and configuring routers for port forwarding to local web servers (IIS) that interact with my web applications.I have also written extensive documentation for many systems during my career. • Software Clinic
    Company Owner
Software Clinic Dec 2002 - Present
Rental And Point-of-sale software (RAPS)==================================During this period of time, I re-engineered my skill set towards web development. I also had to become an entrepreneur and an accountant to manage my small companies finances. Then I buckled down and developed the RAPS software( Rental And Point-of-sales Software ) plus the interacting web app that I call StarLite. This software has managed to bridge the gap between the Internet and the over-the-counter rental and retail transactions; allowing both platforms to coexist and complement each other. The RAPS/ StarLite software allows customers to go online and browse the store's rental catalog and make a reservation and or directly rent the selected item for the day. The customer can then pick up or have the rental item delivered by the store; depending on the store's business model. The customer can also visit the same store and browse the shelves and rent the item in the normal over-the-counter rental scenario thus giving the customer the option of the over-the-counter or online rental ordering experience. Note that this rental and point-of-sales software (RAPS) is both a franchise and retail point of sale compliant.Customers interacting with the RAPS/StarLite software will now be able to access the in-store catalog, and dynamically in real-time make reservations and rentals while in the comfort of their homes or offices; online customers will also be able to see what's IN or OUT without having to drive to the store and be disappointed. Keyword queries can be made on the Internet to the store's catalog to find rental items. Note that the in-store RAPS system has a dashboard that monitors the Internet transactions produced through the StarLite web app; these transactions identified on the dashboard are then acted upon by the employees at the stores counter. Visit www.starlightdemo.com and www.myredbox.co.za to get a feel for the future for rental retail stores around the world.
  • Bosch
    Business Analyst/Consultant
    Bosch Jul 2002 - Dec 2002
    South Africa
July 2002 A six-month contract for Bosch to investigate the use of transponder tracking technology at their main factory. The User Requirements Study (USR) written was to establish a business case for the proposed Work Order Tracking System (WOTS) and to delimit the project scope. I had to identify all external entities that the proposed system would interact with (actors) and define the nature of this interaction at a high-level. This involved identifying all use cases and describing a few significant ones. Also included in the report was an estimate of the resources needed, a phase plan showing dates of major milestones and a risk assessment. The proposed work order-tracking system would use Radio Frequency transponder technology and support management’s vision for tracking work orders from the warehouse through assembly and production line delivery. The system would allow management and operational staff to work smarter in this area of work order component delivery to the production lines. The proposed system would assist in the efficient utilization of the warehouse packer stations, assembly and production lines by ensuring minimum disruptions due to pilferage, mislaid and or incomplete work orders. The system would also identify dynamic bottlenecks allowing management to intervene on these hot spots before they can disrupt production.Responsibilities: Modeling alternative business solutions, documenting a requirements study, Project definition report (PDR), Setting budgets and resource requirements.
