Since reopening Cake Life in Spring 2021, Nima has worked hard to reintroduce Cake Life to its community as something of a 2.0, taking a long and honest look at their branding, policies, and processes with the aim to improve wherever possible. In May 2022, Nima officially took the reigns as Cake Life's first CEO, and has continued his drive to put strong organizational clarity and architecture in place--all in close collaboration with Cake Life's management team--as well grow Cake Life's role within it's community. The results of Nima's efforts are unmistakable: Cake Life is growing in size, efficiency, impact, and influence, with a bright future ahead.
Board Chair
Since his election to Board Chair at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nima has offered SBN's Board a stabilizing hand through a historically tumultuous time, including major transitions for both Board members and the organization's leadership. Nima chairs the Board's Executive Committee, and previously chaired Finance Committees (during which time he also served as Treasurer), and co-founded the Equity Committee alongside Dr. Kimberly McGlonn.Nima is honored to serve his community of locally minded sustainable businesses in their efforts to do good work and work for good, and considers himself lucky to do so alongside the many talented and dedicated people who have served on SBN's Board, Staff, and Executive Directors Anna Shipp and Devi Ramkissoon (current).Nima is SBN's the longest-serving Board Chair since the tenure of it's founder, Judy Wicks.

Chef & Co-Owner
Nima joined A Cupcake Wonderland, co-owned by his best friend, Lily Fischer, shortly after they competed together on Food Network's Cupcake Wars. ACW baked beautiful custom cakes and cupcakes, all made to order in it's commercial kitchen in the Globe Dye Works building in Northeast Philadelphia, with Lily and Nima doing everything from digital communications to custom cakes to the dishes, eventually alongside a tiny team. In 2013, A Cupcake Wonderland changed it's name to Cake Life Bake Shop with the intention of growing the brand into a brick-and-mortar operation.
Assistant Editor, Book Program & Aperture Magazine
Nima rose in the ranks from Editorial Intern to Assistant Editor over his tenure at Aperture, where he eventually wrote the Editorial Intern Handbook himself and oversaw the hiring, training, and professional development of cohorts of up to six new interns every six months, 2-3 of whom would remain his direct supervisees. Nima was responsible for interacting directly with artists, collectors, studios, and foundations to gather artworks for Aperture magazine and various book projects, assessing, organizing, and storing them, then facilitating their safe return. Nima was one of a select few approved to proofread at Aperture, including both internationally distributed publications and internal catalogs and ephemera, which Nima was also frequently tapped to write or copyedit. Nima was also the lead facilitator of the Aperture Portfolio Review, guiding the full Editorial Department through the every stage of portfolio assessment while also acting as a judge. Nima's proudest moment was working directly with acclaimed photographer Sally Mann to edit the introduction of her very personal book, Proud Flesh. Nima was honored to have phenomenal mentorship at Aperture, including (but not limited to) editors Melissa Harris, Leslie Martin, Michael Famighetti, Denise Wolff, Susan Ciccotti, and Denise Wolff.
Instructor, Traditional Animation
As the college transitioned from traditional animation to digital, Nima was tapped to teach new film students animation basics, including introducing them to the filmic possibilities of both 2D and 3D works. Mediums taught included stop-motion, cut-out, and cell, as well as instruction on the use of Sarah Lawrence's room-sized Oxberry animation stand. Nima's filmmaking mentors at Sarah Lawrence included Cathy Cook, Demetria Royals, and George Nicholas.
Culinary Specialist
As 92nd Street Y's sole Culinary Specialist, Nima was responsible for designing and executing a program of daily kosher culinary instruction for children ranging from ages 4-14, plus special education students. He was tasked with deciding the day's item for class preparation, managing the program's budget, procuring all ingredients, and shaping different educational experiences appropriate to each age group and ability level served. That summer, the camp hosted over 26,000 attendees.
