Working with Human-Centered Natural Language Processing - Directed Research Group (DRG), under the guidance of Prof. Cecilia Aragon, Human-Centered Data Science Lab. The ongoing research project studies informal learning in online fanfiction communities.Visual Analytics: Developing dynamic and interactive visualizations using Tableau for authors and their reviews in a distributed mentorship setting of FanFiction.net website based on the 3TB data scrapped from the website. The dashboards highlight trends, summary statistics and synthesize reviews, enabling authors to reflect from the online informal-learning community.

Assisted the professor with 'INFO 491 - Project Capstone II' course at the UW Information School.• Mentoring final year undergraduate Informatics students with the implementation phase of their Capstone projects. • Conducting sprint reviews, overseeing project schedules and progress, and giving feedback on development techniques such as alternative optimal algorithms and tools, performance metrics, informative and interactive visualizations and user studies.

Worked in the Cloud Platform Business Unit - Information Engineering for Product Development, focused on automating the Incident Management engine for VMware Cloud on AWS.• Conducted business, project and data requirement phase with global cross-functional Incident Management teams. • Extracted dataset using SQL. Worked closely with business department to understand domain knowledge and define objectives.• Used content-specific word embeddings to develop a clustering model and categorize major bugs with different priorities.• Prototyped time series - anomaly detection model for: 1) host capacity usage trend analysis of the VMware Cloud on AWS service, customizable at data center levels (fleet, region, AZ); 2) number of host-related tickets.• Developed a dynamic webpage view using HTML and JavaScript to gain insights from the trends, anomalies in capacity usage and number of host-related incidents, increasing efficiency of Engineering Escalation Management and reducing manual labor.• The application aids in identifying critical issues, customer satisfaction and other improvement opportunities in cloud service.

Reader-Grader for INFO 370: Core Methods in Data Science

• Extended the Automated Cheque Truncation System devised for top banks in India. • Trained and deployed Deep Convolutional Neural Networks for extracting account number and date details on the cheque that reduced manual work by a minute/3 cheques. • Developed the requisite API needed for testing and development purposes of the cheque project.• Designed an Optical Character Recognition engine using Deep Learning based solutions to retrieve information from noisy unstructured documents.• Predicted the reasons for a rejected insurance claim, using an ensemble model of clustering and neural networks.

• Researched on apparel classification for style and semantic attributes, as proof of concept for an automatic image annotation system to enhance the product recommendation system.• Tested a pilot for feature extraction using feature detector and descriptor.• Single-handedly trained convolutional neural network models for both multi-class and multi-label classification.• Implemented in Keras library, achieved an accuracy of 80% by optimizing the hyper parameters of the model.

I was responsible for managing all the events, drafting and recording all meeting with the financial details, submitting reports, feedback forms, etc..• Coordinated and organized Sampark’16 – annual IEEE Gujarat Section Student Congress.• Coordinated and organized several talks, workshops, & events such as the distinguished lecture series on Internet of Things by Prof. Anura Jayasumana (Colorado State University).

As a member of Ahmedabad University Students' Branch of IEEE (2015), I have played an active role in organizing and coordinating the activities of all events efficiently. I have also helped in writing the content for our college's IEEE website.Moreover, Ahmedabad University Students’ Branch of IEEE hosted Capacity Building Program on Cyber Crimes, Cyber Security, Forensics and Cyber Laws, organized by IEEE Gujarat Section in association with Cyberra Legal Services (2015) I have also been a volunteer at this event, fulfilling all responsibilities with full commitment.In addition, I played a lead role in managing the entire execution of the event - Emerging Research Trends in Engineering (ERTE 2014) at AMA, conducted by Institute of Engineering & Technology, Ahmedabad University, and IEEE Gujarat Section.

I was part of Daimler iCON (International Contract Management System) Project of AppsTwo CSD (Custom Software Development) for Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz. The project developed, provides and maintains vehicle contracts' covering all repairs and services for Mercedes-Benz cars.• Worked on a Change Request (CR) of Batch Export Framework on release 1.2 of iCON. Implemented in Java EE and performed local testing on JUnits, for creating a Batch that exports CSV files. That data was fetched through a query using Hibernate, an Object/Relational Mapping. • Apart from development, executed manual Regression Test cases as well as basic Automation Test cases for Smoke Test.

I was a teaching assistant (TA) for "Introduction to Computer Programming" (ICP) course, to the first year students. Under the guidance of the professor, three of us would conduct weekly lab hours and assist the students in developing their coding skills. My main objective was to help students solve their problems and clear their practical concepts of programming. (C language ) by conducting tutorial and make-up sessions for the class and assisted the faculty member in grading homework, and tests.

I participated as a Student Intern/Lab Assistant in a research project focused on the evaluation of water filtration technology in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The project was implemented by the Comprehensive Initiative on Technology Evaluation (CITE) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United States. CITE is sponsored by the Higher Education Solutions Network (HESN) and the United States Global Development Lab at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).With the MIT team, I went to different areas in Ahmedabad to collect water samples. These samples were then tested in the lab.
