Besides allowing me to purchase my first condo at 21, working at Shaw has given me an immense appreciation for all the things the internet can do and a respect for the number of segmentations of customer interests and values that exists in the telecommunications world. At Shaw, I deepened conversations and interviewed customers about the reasons they found value in our services, and I offered specific solutions that made sense. My favourite experience at Shaw was passing on these tips, tricks, and skills to the new-hire class that I had the pleasure of training.

During my time at The Shoe Company (a sister-brand to Town Shoes), I started as a sales associate but quickly picked up many roles that I swapped between as needed: in addition to helping customers find the right style and fit, I managed stock levels, I merchandised, I did cash deposits, and for a time I was a key holder who was responsible for opening and closing the store. I’d be lying if I said my favourite part of working here was anything besides the numerous pairs of shoes I purchased, but a close second was learning how to right-fit product suggestions for each individual.

McDonalds was one of the best first working experiences I could have had. Working at McDonalds taught me a little bit of everything: how to maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere, how to keep a store running, and how to pass on skills and knowledge to others. The best part of working for McDonalds were the connections: I still find people today that I can create a connection with about having worked at McDonalds.
