I started taking journalism classes my freshman year of high school as well as joining Journalism Club from freshman year to senior year. Between the end of my junior and senior I became more involved in the school paper, the editor-in-chief and I talked with the teacher in charge of the paper and we led the conversation of getting more people involved in reading the school paper. In our meetings, we mentioned the idea of bringing the school paper online and showcasing the paper through social media, which the teacher loved and eventually we were able to achieve taking the Pirates Pearl to a whole another level. During my senior year, I was a mentor to the underclassmen as well as being an editor of a section of the paper. With the new changes made to the paper, I was given the role of being co-social media contributor with another student. With this role we would make posts on the social media account about daily news and the articles we would post.
