I am a Research Scientist in MIT’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, where my work focuses on healthcare and human-centered design, with application in clinical settings, emerging markets and anywhere persons and machines interact. My approach is collaborative, application-driven and translational. I co-teach the MIT Medical Device Design course and I am currently a project lead on the MIT’s open source Emergency Ventilator Project, which was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.Though a New England Yankee at heart, I have significant international experience, having worked and collaborated in Europe, Asia and South America. Previously, I served as member of the launch team and Program Manager of the MIT Tata Center for Technology + Design, which worked extensively in India. I also work with multinational companies to help their engineering teams build cultures of innovation.With a focus on entrepreneurship as a mechanism for technology commercialization, in addition to my position at MIT, I advise multiple health-focused and technology startups and am a Senior Advisor to the New England Medical Innovation Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
