In this position, I work closely with Rhode Island immigration lawyers (as of right now, the Rhode Island Family Law firm) to assist applicants in filing asylum claims. • Usaid
Intern, Africa Bureau, Office Of Sustainable Development
    Usaid Jun 2024 - Aug 2024
Washington, District Of Columbia, United States
In this position, I worked with the Education Department of the Office of Sustainable Development at USAID's Africa Bureau. I engaged with international scholars of USAID's Young African Leadership Initiative and assisted in planning and hosting the annual three-day Mandela Washington Fellowship Summit. My experience with YALI culminated in an extensive research project on current public-private partnerships between USAID's Regional Leadership Centers and leading digital companies such as HP, Cisco, Intel, and Microsoft. I created a digital roadmap that mapped and outlined the potential of these partnerships across three tenets of USAID's framework for goals for digital accessibility framework. I presented this research to the leaders of the four Regional Leadership Centers in Kenya, Senegal, South Africa, and Ghana. This internship was possible thanks to the funding of the Brown in Washington Scholarship Program.

  • Student Clinic For Immigrant Justice
    Student Trainee
Student Clinic For Immigrant Justice Sep 2023 - Dec 2023
    Providence, Rhode Island, United States
In this role, I studied the ins and outs of asylum case law. After passing a thoughtful and competitive application process, I spent many hours every week on this extra course in order to expand my understanding of the benefits and, equally as important, the intense barriers that exist in regards immigration law. It was a wonderful addition to the extensive learning I gained at the office of U.S. Senator Gillibrand.
  • The Office Of Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand
    Immigration Casework Intern
The Office Of Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand Jun 2023 - Aug 2023
New York, New York, United States
As a casework intern, I work daily to intake and process constituent immigrant cases. This portfolio includes anything from delayed visa interviews to refugee seekers to pending asylum petitions. I am given the opportunity to draft inquiries to government agencies (USCIS, DOS) in support of the constituent and their application. At a time when immigration application processing times are at some of their worst, we process hundreds of cases for constituents. It always feels good to see a good result.
