Endeavour

When I was 21 my boss and mentor (DickTaylor) presented me with a framed copy of the original ship’s drawing of HMB Endeavour, famous as the vessel that Captain James Cook sailed to the Pacific and Australia. Dick advised me to embrace Endeavour as one of the key watch words throughout my life. As my family and business life have progressed his advice has become more and more meaningful. In three voyages Cook sailed thousands of miles across largely uncharted areas of the globe. He mapped lands from New Zealand to Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean in greater detail and on a scale not previously achieved. As he progressed on his voyages of discovery he surveyed and named features, and recorded islands and coastlines on European maps for the first time. He displayed a combination of seamanship, superior surveying and cartographic skills, physical courage and an ability to lead men in adverse conditions, and not be afraid to go where others had never been.So endeavour has always been at the forefront of my thinking and actions. In January 2015 I was fortunate to visit HMB Endeavour in Sydney Harbour which is when I decided to launch my own Endeavour initiative aimed at helping young people progress in life by trying and working hard to reach.their goals and then discovering just what their efforts can achieve.
