Worked alongside a Chicago consulting firm in the healthcare industry. For our Business Analytics capstone project, we ask to discover cost findings related to social determinants of health. Insurance companies are interested in identifying patients with these SDoHs so that they can understand their forecasted cost trends and the characteristics that patients with SDoHs exhibit. By identifying patients with SDoHs, insurance companies can effectively analyze patients at greater medical risk and identify the health features related to SDoHs. By identifying patients with undiagnosed SDoHs, insurance companies can respond to their medical needs with preventative treatment before they seek costlier medical remedies such as visiting the emergency room. We were able to achieve these findings through predictive modeling and cross-validating using R-Studio.
