Having finished my training as an electroplater in 1982, my first position was setting up the in-house plating department at Hermetronics PLC, a newly formed company west of London, manufacturing Hermetic Packages. After this great first experience in the packaging world I moved on to Glasstech AS (now Benestad AS), a start-up business in Norway, as Technical Manager for hermetic packages and subsea connectors. Two years later I was back in the UK and joined Vitramon Ltd to setup their nickel barrier plating process on multilayer ceramic capacitors. Having decided to improve my knowledge of sealing glasses and technology I took a position at Mansol Industries in New Jersey (now Elan Technology) as European Technical Sales Manager. During 1990 I was asked to join Technotron GmbH in Germany, another Hermetic and Special Packaging company as Technical Manager. In 1993 I bought into the company as 50% shareholder and enjoyed 25 years as Managing Director running and developing the business. At the end of 2017 I sold out my shares and joined Hermetic Solutions Group as European Sales Manager until the end of 2022. Followed by a short stop at Glenair as Business Developer for hermetic products. In October 2023 I re-joined Technotron GmbH as R&D adviser (part time).When I am not working, I enjoy following the progress of my three children (35, 28 and 27), starting off on their own adventures in life. My top hobbies are scuba diving, skiing, dancing, hiking, reading and anything else that keeps my mind and body fit.
