As the founder of Project Liber8, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to addressing migration-related issues such as human trafficking, forced labor, and child labor, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of social and behavioural change communication. This approach has proven highly effective in tackling the complex challenges we face at Project Liber8, leading to requests for our expertise in other areas, including online hate speech, drug abuse, and violent extremism. Recognising the potential of these strategies to create meaningful impact, I started Ratio:Cause (read as Ratio to Cause), a social change impact agency. At Ratio:Cause, we focus on closing the gap that creates inequalities by leveraging social and behavioural change to design scalable solutions. Our mission is to build better systems and policies by examining human behaviour through evidence-based and human-centred approaches. We design targeted solutions that influence decision-making and inspire action through community engagement programmes, behavioural change campaigns, behavioural analysis and strategic insights, and data-driven decision support. My work has involved drafting the National Action Plan for Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), developing National Guidelines on Human Trafficking Indicators (NGHTI), and shifting attitudes and perceptions among future law practitioners regarding migrant workers. These accomplishments are the result of collaborative efforts with the dedicated teams at Ratio:Cause and Project Liber8.
