Managed all legal matters for SEC-registered investment adviser with a special focus on contract and vendor management, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and data privacy (including acting as Aperio’s Data Privacy Officer), and was responsible for supervising all legal and compliance department operations, including firmwide cross-functional initiatives to improve service delivery to internal stakeholders and clients.

Waterman Entertainment is an independent entertainment production company that focuses on creating, financing, and distributing film, television, and digital media properties across multiple platforms, as well as making strategic partnerships with, and investments in, media and entertainment-related companies and assets.• Drafted, negotiated and executed numerous transactions for an independent film production company, including license and distribution agreements, literary and script options and purchases, sales agency agreements, co-productions and partnerships, finance arrangements and term sheets, and talent agreements• Negotiated exclusive license agreements to acquire rights in a variety of animated, comic, and children’s properties for use in film and digital media, including online gaming environments• Closed strategic partnerships with animation companies in China and the U.S. to develop and produce educational content utilizing branded IP from major studios and producers• Independently managed pre-production legal tasks for an official Chinese co-production, including application for the film’s SARFT permit and subsequent financing and distribution deals with major Chinese film companies and a major Australian/U.K. financier• Orchestrated a multiparty co-production agreement among producers in the U.K. and U.S. with a critically acclaimed musical producer to create a slate of films based on popular musicals• Closed an option and co-branding deal with a notable publishing company to create a multi-platform program to teach kids leadership and life skills• Completed film clearance and production legal tasks for an animated feature film, and negotiated the distribution of its DVD and television rights with a major family programming distributor• Assisted in development of $100MM media fund to acquire branded family properties and create traditional film, television, as well as digital and web content
