I believe in unleashing the power of genetic engineering to produce organisms that are perfectly suited to benefit humanity. My current work as CSO of ZaNe Genetics involves genetically enhancing black soldier flies as improved animal feed. My PhD thesis work entailed the creation of synthetic species of fruit flies utilizing Engineered Genetic Incompatibility. I perform embryo microinjection transgenesis to give insects new functionality for species-specific pest control or enhanced nutritional value as feed. I have also done population genetics and bioinformatics to assess how effectively genetically engineered insects could replace insecticides in an integrated pest management approach. I am passionate about lab automation through artificial intelligence, liquid handling robots, and machine vision systems.
