Over the course of the project, we studied how software developers used the whiteboard during the design of software, iteratively built a tool for use on electronic whiteboards to support the activities that we saw, and evaluated Calico at software companies with their actual work. Calico was trialed and used at companies such as Mirth, Intel, and Boeing.

Research objective: Investigation of sketch-based methods for the development of business process models.- Worked with researchers Noi Sukaviriya, Rick Hull, and other members of the Barcelona project group.- Designed and built Inkus, an ink-based environment for drafting business process models (BPM). The project aimed to fill the void between informal design and rigid BPM tools by providing an open-ended environment in which business process designers can gradually transition from an informal sketch to a formalized BPM.- Work led to a conference publication: http://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1923389
