About Nancy Frishberg

Let me acknowledge my past several years as an olive oil purveyor. Our ranch in the eastern part of Alameda County, California, produces award winning extra virgin olive oil from trees covering about 40 of our 182 acres: RanchoMilagro.USAnd, a member of the organizing group of LinguisticsCareerLaunch.com, 2021's one-month intensive for career-curious linguistics students and faculty, administrators and alumni/ae, lives on as content on the website and its related YouTube channel. In July 2024 we reconvene at a distance. I've been an organizer, a moderator, an instructor for 2024, and a talent scout for the associated podcast LinguisticsCareerCast.comAs a User Experience professional, I advocate for the user and customer, designing and conducting research activities to confirm that your target users and customers can find and act on what they need from your website, written materials, and instructions. We interpret the results collaboratively, keeping your business goals, human cognition principles, and effective design in mind.Qualitative customer and user research answers "Why?" and "How?" questions. This approach provides rich data about your customers and how people use your products, to complement automated data sources about digital product usage - those tell you When, Where and How often. I help your organization design products and services for users and customers; create processes for internal audiences; and communicate with both external and internal people. Coaching for orgs: Collaborate to include more team members in the conversation about learning what customers want, and how to deliver it to them.Coaching for individuals: People who are seeking new opportunities with the broad range of roles in user experience (including research, design, writing, information architecture, accessibility, internationalization, operations, instructional design) or leaving this specialty, at all stages of careers. And, I create artifacts of lasting value. Ask me about them.Specialties: Coaching and direct service in qualitative user research, such as concept development and confirmation, product evaluation, field studies, usability evaluation, information architecture, programmatic relationships with customers, group process, design games for small and large groups.
