In my journey of pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Professional Accountancy Program at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, I pride myself on being self-motivated and detailed-oriented. With my immerse interest in the accounting field, I have been seeking out opportunities to equip myself with necessary skills and experience aiming to excel in future endeavors. I developed my interpersonal and technical skills during my term as financial secretary of the 41st cabinet of The Society of Business Association, the leading society of CUHK Business School with over 3,000 members. I was responsible for drafting financial statements and controlling the cash flow of our events. Naturally, I took up the position of financial secretary in Business Administration Faculty Orientation Camp 2021. With great power comes great responsibility. Internally, I had to keep detailed accounting records of all expenses. Externally, I negotiated with other societies for venue and budget. I learned to be more organized when handling financial affairs, and the importance of keeping a rational mind when negotiating cannot be overstated. Apart from school, the mentorship program Deloitte ‘Pass the Torch’ inspired me a lot to explore my career path. It was a 3-years program (2017-2019) giving me a valuable chance to meet professionals from Deloitte and participate in various career-related events, including job shadowing and mock interview. My mentor gave me a glimpse of the job of accountants and auditors, allowing me to gain brief insights into the business world. Afterwards, I applied for my first internship to be an audit assistant in Leung & Puen CPA Firm, where I was able to apply the skills I learnt from school. I became more experienced in using excel to classify and analyze data. Furthermore, I gained hands-on experience to conduct different research for client companies, giving me a deeper understanding of business structure.
