As I'm moving through with my education, I hope to involve myself deeply in research -- whether that be through working under someone, working in a lab, or tackling one of the many research questions that I've written down; I simply just want to be able to be apart of the beautiful process of pursuing knowledge. I personally conducted research in my own project -- this would serve as the foundation of my later interests as described above. This project was a sociological study that sought to statistically validate the claims of the College Board through its adversity index (a tool for undergraduate admission). I got involved with a lot of number crunching (through excel and google forms), data collection from California all the way to Pennslyvania, statistical tests (ANOVA and t-test) -- it was quite overwhelming but the rush I experienced when I had learned that my expectations for the results of the project were correct, it demonstrated to me how something so seemingly boring and fruitless can be so fun and rewarding.As I continue to pursue my academic and career aspirations -- I know that the experiences that I have gained from surrounding myself with bright-minded individuals and selfless volunteers with a mission to alleviate human suffering, that the interpersonal and hard skills that I've accumulated will all contribute to my success in said aspirations.
