About Jodie Ng
Everyone should grasp at every chance to learn and explore. As a compassionate animal lover and a dedicated biology enthusiast, I believe the best way to gain knowledge is through first-hand experience and exploration. I dream of exploring different parts of the world and seeing everything nature has to offer. I have an insatiable curiosity about the physiology and behavior of animals and am consistently amazed at how unique, adapted, and beautiful each species is. To this day, I strive to better understand animals and never shy away from a learning adventure, even if it means getting my hands dirty. At the University of British Columbia (UBC), I have been furthering my studies, focusing on understanding the biology, physiology, behavior, and welfare of animals. University has led me to look more critically at animals and to ask questions of my own regarding how they function or how and why some species are unique. I broadened my experiences at the Bamfield Marine Science Center (BMSC), where I got to first-hand explore the vast diversity of animals through the hands-on collection and in-depth observation in labs. I also extended my knowledge with voluntary work at a vet clinic and research at a few labs. I am currently working on a collaborative research project involving cochlear morphology and frequency mapping of cetaceans and mustache bats.Professionally, I am looking to expand my experiences and find a job where I can integrate my passion for animals and my dream for adventure and exploration. Ideally, I hope to work hands-on with animals around the world, either to help them through veterinary medicine or further understand them through research.
