About Nicholas Pratt
Engineering and software development are in my blood. My parents? Both mechanical engineers. My siblings? Electrical engineer turned software developer, software developer, and software developer. It's almost as if I never had a choice, so it's a good thing I love what I do.I've spent my entire career so far developing software for the fresh food and perishables industry. If you've purchased fruits or veggies from the supermarket recently, there's a good chance the software I've worked on helped it get there. In the past few years, I've transitioned to developing for the Microsoft Business Central platform to learn new skills and contribute even more to an industry which has become my home. Regardless of the programming language or business problem to solve, I guide the solutions from concept and design to testing, deployment, and documentation. Unlike the stereotype, I also communicate outside of the computer! I've led developer and consultant training which reduced on-boarding time from one year to six months, and I've spent a fair amount of time on the road. Consulting at customer sites and guiding them to better utilization of their software has led to happy customers, internal revenue growth, and new software development skills. There's no better way to improve software than to sit with a customer and watch them use it!So, whether it's leading developers, managing a product, or getting into the trenches and programming myself, I'm always looking for new opportunities to grow.
